World Cyber Games Ireland 2009

Since 2006 the exciting Irish finals of World Cyber Games have been held in The Digital Hub in Dublin. The competition has been played live on large screens in The Digital Hub’s flagship building, Digital Exchange, and watched by members of the public as well as gamers from all over Ireland and beyond; as the final competition has been relayed live online to a world wide audience.

Seán Walsh, a 16-year-old Dublin schoolboy, beat off stiff competition from some of Ireland's top computer gamers to win the Irish final of the World Cyber Games at The Digital Hub on Tuesday 18th of August 2009.

The Irish final of the World Cyber Games was sponsored by the Digital Hub Development Agency, Samsung, eircom and LanParty.ie, and supported by Kart City. China’s Ambassador to Ireland, His Excellency Mr. Liu Biwei, attended today’s event and presented Seán Walsh with a plaque to commemorate his victory.
